Who is Tua Pek Kong?

Tua Pek Kong is a Taoist god, referred to as the “God of Prosperity”. He is thought to be an incarnation of the god “Fu” from the trio of “Fu Lu Shou” representing “Prosperity, Fortune, and Longevity”. Tua Pek Kong was far from being a standardized god in an authoritative group of Chinese deities. The deity is considered as a person who offers protection to those who relied on him.

Tua Pek Gong is otherwise known as 福德正神(Fu De Zheng Shen). According to the legend, Zhang Fu De (also known as Tua Pek Kong) was a top government official in Zhou Dynasty in charge of taxation, which is similar to the position,  Commissioner of Inland Revenue in Singapore.

In ancient times, Chinese Folks pray to Tua Pek Kong for the abundance of crops, grains and healthy livestock.
